The beautifully renovated Minnesota State Capitol was the backdrop to our North Metro Mayors board meeting March 15.
A special thank you goes to the members who came down early and met separately with almost two dozen members of our legislative delegation for our 30th Anniversary Day on the Hill. Key talking points included letting them know our association is celebrating 30 years of collaborating, sharing highlights of our legislative work plan, and thanking them for their efforts on behalf of north metro residents and businesses.
Eight legislators stopped by our board meeting, too, held in a third-floor Capitol conference room decorated with black and white portraits of Minnesotans, including several from member cites.
Legislative updates were provided, from both sides of the aisle. Rep. Mark Uglem predicted a bonding bill this year that might get projects in the ground this spring, and another bonding bill next session. If you have a project, work with the association and your legislators to get the ball moving. Even if nothing happens on a new bonding project this year, it can get in position for next year, Rep. Uglem noted.
The next NMMA meetings are an Operating Committee April 19, 11:30 a.m., Champlin, and a Board meeting May 17, 5:30 p.m. We’ve got a Community Partner interesting in hosting, but a few details need to be worked out. Watch for more info on location. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
