Ah, that new city hall smell
The North Metro Mayors Board of Directors met this week in New Hope. Thank you, Mayor Kathi Hemken and City Manager Kirk McDonald, for hosting! It was an honor to be one of the first outside meetings in your brand new city hall. It’s a great space. Please invite us back when the pool is done!
New Hope City Hall and the 50-meter pool next door switched places. Thanks in part to support from North Metro Mayors, the state contributed $2 million to relocate the pool, which had sprung a leak and needed work. Swim teams from around the Twin Cities can’t wait to get into the water. The city is investing about $18.5 million on the city hall and pool projects, which includes trails and an outdoor theater. Thanks, Kirk and Mayor Hemken, for sharing an update on new businesses in town, like the carwash that recycles water, and your efforts to be inclusive, with lamppost signs in five languages.
Meeting business–Dues, budgets, contracts for 2020 were all approved. With the addition of Fridley as a member, we were able to lower dues 2%. Thank you!
Operating Committee Chair Jim Dickinson reminded folks our legislative work plan allows us to stay nimble. Please keep Troy informed of the changing landscape in your area.
