30 Years Strong!
North Metro Mayors Association’s 30th Anniversary Celebration was held at Fogerty Arena Sept. 20. Thank you to everyone who attended.
We started the evening with a curling expo at Four Seasons Curling Club. Special shout outs to our curlers: Coon Rapids Mayor Jerry Koch and City Manager Matt Stemwedel, Ramsey City Administrator Kurt Ulrich, Maple Grove City Administrator Heidi Nelson, New Hope City Manager Kirk McDonald, Innovative Office Solutions staff Maria and Steve, and Comcast staff Brad and Steve. A few were overheard saying, “It’s not as easy as it looks, but it’s fun!” Olympian and Curling Director John Benton provided the instructions (and maybe some Advil afterwards).
The program was emceed by Esme Murphy, WCCO. A presentation on highway 610 showed tremendous growth in the corridor, in jobs and population, since 1987, with projections of more to come.
Thank you to our program participants: New Hope Mayor Kathi Hemken, Circle Pines Mayor Dave Bartholomay, Financial One’s Ross Bloomquist, Comcast’s Ron Orlando, Jill Brown and three economic development leads: Matt Brown from Coon Rapids, Erik Hansen from Brooklyn Park, and Carie Wille from Maple Grove. Also, thanks to Sticks and Stones for the great eats and to Fogerty Arena for donating Olympic Trial tickets for Dec. 15 to North Metro Mayors Association members and guests.
The celebration was made possible with help from our pearl sponsors, Financial One and Comcast, and event supporters CenterPoint Energy, Innovative Office Solutions and Hans Bakery.
Next meetings: Operating Committee October 18 in Spring Lake Park; Board of Directors November 15 at New Hope Golf Course.
Thanks. Jill Brown, Executive Director, cell 612-889-2611
